Sunday School Tales

For the last 3 weeks we have been asking Liam what he is learning in Sunday School. In his words we'll start with week 1

1) "Jesus couldn't see and he put mud in the man's eyes and he couldn't wash it out." (the blind man that Jesus put mud on his eyes then took him down to the lake to wash it off and the man could then see)

2) "Jesus healed the man who couldn't walk. His friends picked up his mat and he stood up. His name was Bob." (almost got this one right, don't know where the Bob part comes in)

3) "We learned about the deaf man who couldn't hear. He couldn't even hear the birds chirping Mom!"

Clearly he is listening to the sunday school teacher. Just not sure how it is getting all scrambled up in that 4 year old brain of his. And I really need to find out who Bob is.

Seven Months

Caroline at 7 months is so much fun! She is mainly a very happy baby with lots of giggles and a whole lot to say. Lots of babbling coming out of her! Caroline's eyes are a bright deep blue just like Liam's. Her hair that is coming in is blondish brown, just like me.

Caroline has been introduced to many foods now. Fruits are a favorite and the only vegetables she gets excited about are orange. (sweet potatoes and squash) She will tolerate green beans and zucchini but truly despises peas. Like, gags on them and throws them up hate. Still trying to figure out how to use the gallon size bag of pureed frozen peas in the freezer. She currently eats solid foods for breakfast and at dinner.

Caroline is still nursing and does that every 3-5 hours during the day and at night every 4-7 hours. Recently it's been every 3-4 hours so not sure if there is another tooth trying to come in but my brain is desperately missing the much needed sleep it needs to function. I may never sleep through the night again.

Likes: All of the toys she got at Christmas from family she is very excited about. She loves her princess vanity, her picnic basket, her alphabet dog and basically anything we put in front of her. She really likes when we pay attention to her, tickle her and make time for bath time.

Dislikes: Green veggies and being ignored. (seriously sounding neglectful here but when there is more than one kid around there just isn't enough time in the day)

Skills: Caroline now says "da-da" but she is just babbling. Evan continues to insist that this is her first word but considering she says it all day, all the time and not directly at him, I'm not buying it. Caroline sits up by herself with no assistance from us. We do put our leg behind her or a pillow just in case she falls but it is very rare that she needs it. Caroline loves to scoot. If we lay her a certain way and come back to check on her she will have either scooted herself around to face the opposite direction or pushed herself back so she is no longer laying on the blanket. She still takes 2 naps during the day with a third thrown in on occasion. Bedtime is between 7 and 8 pm.

Health: Caroline saw the orthopaedic surgeon in December for her 6 month xrays and the doctor did not feel confident in the way her hips are positioned. He referred us to see the pediatric orthopaedic doctor in Peoria so we met with him this past Wednesday. Dr. Akeson feels that her physical examination is very good but agrees with the previous doctor that her xrays don't look great. She will now get an ultrasound of her hips with different angles and pressure to see if her hip/femur are staying in socket. If there is a concern she may have to wear a harness at night while she sleeps. We will continue to see Dr. Akeson in Peoria from now on every 3 months for further evaluation of her hip dysplasia. Prayers in this area would be great for our little girl that she will develop correctly and also stay on a healthy timeline for crawling and walking.

It is truly amazing to watch this girl grow up. To watch Liam be a big brother and the interaction between the two. We feel so blessed that God has entrusted us to raise her up right.

Bad choices

Tonight at dinner I was nursing Caroline while Liam was eating his dinner. Caroline bit me so I was telling her no. "No biting Caroline". Liam chimed in and said "I don't like that choice Caroline. That was not a good choice!"

He then picked up a raspberry that was on his plate and chucked it at Evan. It was a great throw as it hit Evan right on the shoulder and kinda just sat there. Evan was not impressed. Time out was issued. And I had to use Caroline as a shield so Liam wouldn't see me laughing.

Talk about bad choices! Funny but bad.

Treasures

I found these treasures on my camera today. Hope they give you a chuckle as they certainly did for me. Can someone please give Liam the kids camera that he asked for on his Christmas list so he doesn't keep using mine?

Liam, apparently taking a selfie, wearing Evan's new headphones

The many poses of bear. It is shocking that there is only picture of him on my camera.

Christmas

We had such a wonderful Christmas with family this year. Being in Canton with my family and then later with Evan's family in Eureka, makes us realize how lucky we are to have such amazing families on both sides. Enjoy our pictures!

Liam got to be in the drama at my mom's church and played the part of "toddler Jesus"
He rocked it out!

Love my little family!

LOVE my sisters!

Grandpa with all the grandkids (and a coconut)

Still love her even when she flicks me in the head for "ruining/helping" her make breakfast

Grandpa and Caroline

Liam with his new pirate ship
