Seven Months

Caroline at 7 months is so much fun! She is mainly a very happy baby with lots of giggles and a whole lot to say. Lots of babbling coming out of her! Caroline's eyes are a bright deep blue just like Liam's. Her hair that is coming in is blondish brown, just like me.

Caroline has been introduced to many foods now. Fruits are a favorite and the only vegetables she gets excited about are orange. (sweet potatoes and squash) She will tolerate green beans and zucchini but truly despises peas. Like, gags on them and throws them up hate. Still trying to figure out how to use the gallon size bag of pureed frozen peas in the freezer. She currently eats solid foods for breakfast and at dinner.

Caroline is still nursing and does that every 3-5 hours during the day and at night every 4-7 hours. Recently it's been every 3-4 hours so not sure if there is another tooth trying to come in but my brain is desperately missing the much needed sleep it needs to function. I may never sleep through the night again.

Likes: All of the toys she got at Christmas from family she is very excited about. She loves her princess vanity, her picnic basket, her alphabet dog and basically anything we put in front of her. She really likes when we pay attention to her, tickle her and make time for bath time.

Dislikes: Green veggies and being ignored. (seriously sounding neglectful here but when there is more than one kid around there just isn't enough time in the day)

Skills: Caroline now says "da-da" but she is just babbling. Evan continues to insist that this is her first word but considering she says it all day, all the time and not directly at him, I'm not buying it. Caroline sits up by herself with no assistance from us. We do put our leg behind her or a pillow just in case she falls but it is very rare that she needs it. Caroline loves to scoot. If we lay her a certain way and come back to check on her she will have either scooted herself around to face the opposite direction or pushed herself back so she is no longer laying on the blanket. She still takes 2 naps during the day with a third thrown in on occasion. Bedtime is between 7 and 8 pm.

Health: Caroline saw the orthopaedic surgeon in December for her 6 month xrays and the doctor did not feel confident in the way her hips are positioned. He referred us to see the pediatric orthopaedic doctor in Peoria so we met with him this past Wednesday. Dr. Akeson feels that her physical examination is very good but agrees with the previous doctor that her xrays don't look great. She will now get an ultrasound of her hips with different angles and pressure to see if her hip/femur are staying in socket. If there is a concern she may have to wear a harness at night while she sleeps. We will continue to see Dr. Akeson in Peoria from now on every 3 months for further evaluation of her hip dysplasia. Prayers in this area would be great for our little girl that she will develop correctly and also stay on a healthy timeline for crawling and walking.

It is truly amazing to watch this girl grow up. To watch Liam be a big brother and the interaction between the two. We feel so blessed that God has entrusted us to raise her up right.
