Funnies

Just a few funnies that Liam has said recently:

Yesterday was Valentine's Day and Evan sent me flowers at work. (because he is an awesome husband, most of the time) On our way home from daycare I showed Liam the flowers that I had received and asked Liam who he thought gave them to me. His response? Staley. Staley sent me the flowers.

This morning Liam woke up and told Evan that he wanted to go downstairs and watch TV. Evan asked him what he thought he wanted to watch. His response? Football Daddy. Watch Football.

If Liam's ever expanding vocabulary produces these funnies I can't wait for more.

Hold your tongue

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'll just start this post off by saying what an awful wife I can be sometimes. Yesterday morning before we left for work, as we were struggling to pack everything up for Liam and put on our coats to leave for work and daycare, I said the following to my husband,

"Don't send me flowers today at work, they cost way too much on this one day of the year. If you do get me flowers pick them up on the way home from work and don't get me any in a vase because we have a million vases already in the basement. And get them from that place you got them the last time, those were very pretty."

While I'm saying all of those horrible things Evan is giving me the look like I'm crazy. Which made me realize that maybe he already bought me flowers and was already sending them to my work. And maybe I should shut my mouth and give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he is doing.

I did apologize right then and there.

After telling all of my coworkers and patients how horrible I was, at about 1:30 pm my coworkers brought back a dozen roses...in tissue paper....laughing.

I was laughing too and then called my husband to thank him for being so generous to such a controlling  horrible wife.  He told me he loved me anyway.

Music time

I love that the Bloomington Parks department has so many great options of activities to do with your child.

On Wednesday Liam and I were able to go to 'Tiny melodies’ which is a music class for youngsters and their parents. Miss Meryl is a music therapist so it’s fun to see Liam enjoying the music but Meryl is constantly talking to the parents also and explaining what each song is supposed to teach the kids. Our 45 minute, six week class is looking like it will be lots of fun.

It’s also fun to see Liam in a different setting. It’s very interesting to me how at home and around family he is a rough and tumble boy; but at church, the library, music class or tumbling he is just like Evan. Very quiet and shy and unsure if he should really join in on the festivities.

Evan tells me that I am not quiet or shy or unsure of anything. I guess he’s right. :)

Testing the limits

Or I should say testing my limits. Liam is now in the “terrible two’s” which means that everything Mom and Dad say he ignores until we are pulling out our hair and yelling.

The threat that works the best so far is taking away books before bedtime or naptime. Anything else he doesn’t really care about such as time out or pats on the behind. But if we threaten to take away a book Liam will move very quickly at doing what we had originally asked him.

I hate that I have to say things like “If I have to ask you one more time...” and “Don’t make me come over there...”

I’m trying to remember b.c. (before child) when my sister or in-laws would discipline their children. (my niece and nephews) When they would say “I’m warning you...” or “Do you want to go to timeout?” was I thinking why are you asking them???? Just put them in timeout! Now I see that there is nothing wrong with warning your child and letting them choose if they want to continue to misbehave or actually listen and be obedient.

The only thing is that if I say it I better deliver. No empty threats in the Walles house. Something I constantly need to repeat in my head numerous times a day.

I guess its a good thing that Liam loves reading so much that the possibility of not being able to scares him into listening to his mom and dad. Right now it’s the only thing I got.
