Testing the limits

Or I should say testing my limits. Liam is now in the “terrible two’s” which means that everything Mom and Dad say he ignores until we are pulling out our hair and yelling.

The threat that works the best so far is taking away books before bedtime or naptime. Anything else he doesn’t really care about such as time out or pats on the behind. But if we threaten to take away a book Liam will move very quickly at doing what we had originally asked him.

I hate that I have to say things like “If I have to ask you one more time...” and “Don’t make me come over there...”

I’m trying to remember b.c. (before child) when my sister or in-laws would discipline their children. (my niece and nephews) When they would say “I’m warning you...” or “Do you want to go to timeout?” was I thinking why are you asking them???? Just put them in timeout! Now I see that there is nothing wrong with warning your child and letting them choose if they want to continue to misbehave or actually listen and be obedient.

The only thing is that if I say it I better deliver. No empty threats in the Walles house. Something I constantly need to repeat in my head numerous times a day.

I guess its a good thing that Liam loves reading so much that the possibility of not being able to scares him into listening to his mom and dad. Right now it’s the only thing I got.
