P is for....

I am fully aware that I have little patience. With this pregnancy I have zero patience. I am also fully aware that I have a 3 year old who needs lots of patience.

Today has been a trying day for the both of us. While convincing myself that it's ok if we sit and watch PBS for a couple extra shows than normal because I'm 31 weeks pregnant and am allowed to sit on the couch and rest, I decided that we should get up and go sit at the table where I wanted Liam to show me how he writes his name.

L:  'No! I don't want to write my name!'
M: 'I don't care what you want to do, that's what we're doing. (sigh, as I remember my lack of patience) Ok, if you don't want to write your name we could do your preschool letter book.'
L: 'Yes! I want to do that!'

After getting in trouble because he wanted to use a marker instead of crayons to circle the objects that start with M and P, and was "accidentally" writing on the table and all over his clothes....

L: 'I don't want to do this anymore!' through tears and screaming, 'I want to go in the playroom!'
M: ' I would like us to finish this page and then you may go into the living room and play.'
L: 'No! I don't want to do that!'
M: 'Ok, fine you can go to timeout because of how POOR your attitude is, which by the way also starts with the letter P!'

And coincidentally for me, so does the word patience.

Could someone post my bail?

So the new carpet in Liam's soon to be new room is in. Which means that everything that was in the guest room/office/Evan's art space had to be moved out. Which means most everything is currently in our bedroom waiting to be sorted through.

Including an old telephone....did I mention that we haven't had a home phone for almost 6 months now?

Liam likes to play with this old telephone, maybe that's why I never threw it out, so today we had this conversation:

M: Who are you calling Liam?
L: The Police!
M: Whatcha calling the police for?
L: They're gonna come pick you up, cause you a MEAN MOMMY! YOU BAD.

Don't worry, I was too busy laughing to worry about why I was mean. Plus, as I am his parent I don't really think it's ok that he wants to play with my crochet hook, the push pins he found or the lamp that's sitting on the floor. Or that he enjoys licking his hand. I enjoy telling him no and telling him often.

3 year wellness exam

On Friday I took Liam to the pediatrician for his 3 year wellness exam. The doctor is very happy with his growth and development. Here's his stats:

Weight: 29 pounds (16th percentile)
Height: 36 inches  (10th percentile)
BMI (body mass index): 43rd percentile

So, I think when analyzing these numbers we can conclude that he is skinny like the Walles' and Davidson's. Short like the Fink's, but his BMI is spot on. It's a giant mix of both sides of his families gene pool.

Funny

This afternoon I asked Liam this:

L: He watching the basketball with the cows who have horns.

(The Chicago Bulls in case you didn't know)

Goodbye winter

Maybe if we all say it and think it winter will leave us. It has been a brutal season with bitterly cold temperatures and record breaking snowfalls. It's supposed to snow again tonight even though no one wants it to.

So, here is our official good bye to winter. We had a lot of fun playing in the snow, having snowball fights, making snowmen and snow forts. Butters especially had a blast as this is her favorite season by far. It was great while it lasted but I think it's time you left.

And of course a little video of Liam trying out his new sled.

100 days

In 100 days we get to meet our baby. I am ready to meet the baby right now. I know that the baby needs to keep growing and all of that before its ready to come into this world but I am just so ready.

Liam's room, not ready.
Baby's room, not ready.
Evan, not ready and pretty sure as a male he's not even thinking too much about what our new family will be like. (this is my opinion and I could be completely wrong)

I am especially ready for my hormones to go back to normal. Last weekend I took Liam to see the movie Frozen. It was really, really good. Pretty sure I cried at least 3 times during the movie. A Disney movie. Want to know what part made me cry? The song, "Do you want to build a snowman?" Not necessarily the title of a song that would move people to tears but for me I was a wreck.

Today I cried because Evan didn't want to go look at carpet or buy Liam's new mattress. (He, of course, later apologized and very enthusiastically said he wanted to go. But since I had just cried my eyes out, literally I bawled, I didn't feel like going anywhere) Do you want to know the worst part about crying in my house? EVERYONE wants to know why. Butters is right next to me, crying and whining, which I just find very amusing making me laugh. Liam is right next to us, asking if Dad will please come play with him in his room, again making me laugh. Hey people! I'm trying to have a crazy pregnant lady moment! You're not supposed to be making me laugh.

So instead I went up to our attic and dragged down all of Liam's old gender neutral clothing to sort through. I'm sure I looked like a complete nut going through all of Liam's old sleepers and hats, staring at each one and remembering him wearing them when he was a newborn.

Clearly I am in a nesting phase. With 100 days to go I just can't figure out why no one else has joined me yet. Hello people! 100 DAYS TO GO-THIS IS AN EMERGENCY! Whoops, there's those crazy hormones again.
