Fishing for compliments

I probably shouldn't write this post but I think it's too funny not to.

Evan and I are going to a pretty fancy wedding in about a month. I, of course, feel that I need to get a new dress, and of course, want to show off how good I think I look.

Upon looking online at numerous sites, finding nothing that screamed out "pick me!" I decided to look at Victoria's Secrets website. Here I found many dresses that said "check me out! You would look so sexy in this dress!" I than checked the sizing chart, which depressed me and brought me back to reality that the girls in those dresses are at most a size 0, and if I tried to squeeze my fat butt into the same dress the results would not be the same.

Feeling down, I went downstairs to sit with my husband so that I could complain about it. Brace yourself.

M: "Evan, I need to find a sexy dress for that wedding, but I'm not sexy anymore." (whiny voice)

E: "Well, I guess you shouldn't wear a sexy dress than huh."

Now, I will confess that during this conversation I was
1. already in my old pajama pants with my big bulky robe on.
2. wet hair that I had probably not brushed
3. no makeup, contacts out and glasses on.
When I realized that, at that moment, I was probably not looking too sexy I started laughing.

I don't usually play word games with Evan, and now you can see why. He doesn't notice the whiny voice, the sad face and think I should tell her she IS sexy and a hundred other compliments to go along with it. I am usually smarter than that.

Once Evan stopped watching the bulls game and looked at my sad face, he did apologize and than said "Don't you already have dresses?" MEN!  So clueless...

Becoming a big boy!

Some fun new things that Liam is doing:

When we tell Liam it is bedtime, he drops what he's doing, holds out his hand and walks us to the stairs so he can get ready for bed.

No more crawling upstairs either. Liam now insists on holding our hands and "walks" upstairs one leg at a time.

Liam is getting much better at using his spoon and fork during mealtimes. We still have to help guide him with scooping but he is really getting the hang of it. He also favors his left hand when eating, so who knows? He could become a left handed pitcher, make tons of money in the majors and support his parents for the rest of their lives.

I finally looked up the signs for "please" and "thank you" so Liam is now using his manners.

He gives the best hugs and kisses.  Not slobbery at all.

He is in fact growing up and learning new things every day! Love you Liam!

Halfway there!

Liam has been working hard on getting his teeth in. We now have included K and T (the lower molars) to the brushing routine. (meaning they just came in, not that we have been ignoring them before)

So, Liam now has 10 out of 20 of his baby teeth! I'm so excited!

Maybe we can blame the biting other people on his teething. No? Ok, yeah that's probably still my fault.

Watch out! He's a biter!

So now we have this going for us; Liam has bit his first "real" person. (Besides Evan, myself or Butters)

Today while picking Liam up from daycare I got to hear about how when the babysitter was watching the kids, it looked like he was giving his friend, Brooke, a hug. However, once Brooke started screaming she discovered that Liam was biting her. Apparently bad enough that he left a bite mark and now I'm hoping that the poor girl doesn't also have a bruise.

If you are close to me I may have discussed with you already that Liam has always had a tendency to bite. As young as 6 months he would bite me while nursing, which is very painful by the way. I have always told him NO! and moved on. He has not bitten me while nursing in a long time but now when we play together sometimes he will bite me or Evan.

Evan likes to blame me and I actually may agree with him this time. When I rough-house with Butters I like to pretend that I'm another dog and I'll "bite" her face, her legs or her abundant loose skin... I know it's really weird and I'm embarrassed to admit it, but Butters and I have lots of fun this way. Plus, if I ever get attacked by another dog I will have had lots of practice on how to defend myself.  Actually probably not, if I ever get attacked by another dog I would probably do a lot of other things first before biting them back.

Anyway, Liam has apparently been watching Mommy and now we have a problem on our hands. Looks like no more rough-housing with the dog and lots of discipline with my new found vampire.

Happy Easter!

Sunrise service, Breakfast at the church, finding his Easter basket, spending time with family and an Easter egg hunt summarize Liam's second Easter! Oh boy, was it a fun day!

Aunt Emily

Liam has a lot of pretty awesome Aunt's. Aunt Carrie, Aunt Ellen, Aunt Stephanie and Aunt Adriane. I am now dedicating this blog to my big sister and Liam's Aunt Emily.

Aunt Emily is lots of fun. Aunt Emily can make me laugh. Aunt Emily is really cool. Aunt Emily sings me songs. Aunt Emily reads me books. I love Aunt Emily!

Thanks for being such an amazing Aunt Emily!

Grandpa!

Liam is very lucky to have two amazing Grandpa's who are very involved in his life.

Last night I was telling Liam that he needed to "sign" Grandpa Fink's birthday card because tomorrow is his birthday. While he was doodling on the card he started to say "Gran-pa, Gran-pa." How cool is that?

A lot of times Liam will say a word once or twice and than when we try to prompt him to say it again, he has decided that it's time to move on. In an earlier post I bragged how Liam had said "Zip" for zipper and we haven't heard him say it since. But last night, we heard "Gran-pa" for the rest of the night!

Since I knew the possibility of "Gran-pa" being short lived, we called both Grandpas immediately. While Liam didn't get to talk to them personally, we left some very nice voicemails for "Gran-pa."
